Issue：
1. The well-being of a society is enhanced when many of its people question authority?
思路参考：本题可分别讨论政治，科技，艺术，社会等不同领域质疑权威的作用和意义。
题目的观点有道理吗?
对于政治方面的权威：The more the people are questioning the authority, the more the society’s people care about what the authority is doing. Questioning authority forces governments to be more democratic, efficient, responsible and honest.
对于其他社会层面的权威：Questioning authorities promotes innovation, invention, and discovery.
从必须性来说： The opinions, claims and theories of authorities may become out of date, or have inherent drawbacks. Questioning existing authority is necessary for social progress.
从后果来说：Mass resistance to authority can escalate to violent protest and rioting, and impede development and progress.
对于社会层面的权威：Some positive challenges do not necessarily come from a large number of people; a few key individuals can pose profound impact.
发散：
It is necessary to make clear differentiation between positive and vicious challenge.
2. People's behavior is largely determined by forces not of their own making.

Argument：
1. The following appeared in a memo to the board of directors of Bargain Brand Cereals.

"One year ago we introduced our first product,Bargain Brand breakfast cereal.Our very low prices quickly drew many customers away from the top-selling cereal companies.Although the companies producing the top brands have since tried to compete with us by lowering their prices and although several plan to introduce their own budget brands,not once have we needed to raise our prices to continue making a profit.Given our success in selling cereal,we recommend that Bargain Brand now expand its business and begin marketing other low-priced food products as quickly as possible."
Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered in order to decide whether the recommendation and the argument on which it is based are reasonable.Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the recommendation.
文本大意：1年前我们推出了第一种产品Bargain Brand早餐麦片，我们非常低廉的价格迅速从一些销量最大的麦片厂商那里吸引了大量客户。尽管这些生产顶级品牌的厂商曾经试图通过降低价格来与我们竞争，并且有一些公司打算推出他们自己的廉价品牌，但我们从不需要通过涨价来维持赢利。基于销售麦片的成功，我们建议Bargain Brand尽快扩展业务，开始推出其他的廉价品牌。
Fallacies
1). Non-causal relationship. 无因果。The director unfairly assumes that it is the low price of Bargain Brand that attracted those customers.
2). Incomplete information. 信息不完整。The argument contains no information concerning the actual profits of the company after Bargain Brand cereal was introduced, thus we cannot evaluate whether the cereal selling strategy was successful.
3). Inferring a future condition from a past condition. 从过去推知未来。The director over-optimistically assumes that the strong sales of Bargain Brand breakfast cereal last year will continue in the following years.
4). Insufficient evidence. 论据不充分。The director fails to provide any substantial evidence to show why other companies’ strategies constitute no threat to our company.
5). Changing scopes. 差异范围草率推广。The director hastily assumes that the company will succeed in selling other food products through their low-price strategy.
论证要点：本题问题首先在于作者并没有提供公司推出BB之后利润方面的信息，因而无法判断BB的推出除了吸引客户之外还有没有其他意义。其次，就算BB的推出十分成功，是否是受益于低价策略也不能保证。另外，BB的低价策略是否能应用于其他食品也存在问题。
2. The vice president of human resources at Climpson Industries sent the following recommendation to the company's president.
"In an effort to improve our employees' productivity, we should implement electronic monitoring of employees' Internet use from their workstations. Employees who use the Internet from their workstations need to be identified and punished if we are to reduce the number of work hours spent on personal or recreational activities, such as shopping or playing games. By installing software to detect employees' Internet use on company computers, we can prevent employees from wasting time, foster a better work ethic at Climpson, and improve our overall profits."
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on these assumptions and what the implications are for the argument if the assumptions prove unwarranted.
关于GRE作文备考的建议：
1. ETS作文题库是公开透明的，其中包括200多道Issue和200多道Argument，考试题目只出这个范围内的，只要安排好时间，是能够对题目进行充分准备的;如果时间有限，可以根据高频作文题目的统计进行准备，当然，这样准备也有一定的风险性。
